Frank,

If you will read my book I think you will find that I agree with you. I debunk the 2012 end of the world view and all forms of date-setting.

Blessings,

Mark

I wrote http://donsingleton.org/_islam101.htm to help my brother understand how I think end times are going to occur, and Islam's role. I liked (and mentioned your 2012) book, and based on it have 7 more on order. Would you do me the honor of looking at my website and telling me of any errors you see in my logic

<strong><a href="#comment-97" rel="nofollow">Paula</a> :</strong>Greetings!
I’m a highschool journalists from the Philippines and I wanted to write something about this topic. I want to somehow open the eyes of young individual that believes the world will end in 2012 because I strongly believe that God only knows when will be the end as stated in Matthew 24: 35-36.
Pastor Mark, you enligthened me when I watch in youtube a clip of your guesting in the show prophecy in the news and your statement “We must armed by the truth” made my brave enough to stand in my belief that God is the only way we can survive any tragedies we are into.
I want to read your book but dont have enough money to buy one, so thanks for you blogs it helps me a lot!
God bless you!</blockquote>
It is not the world as far as the planet earth that's gonna end but rather the system that fallen man has established upon it that will (the Greek root words translated into "world" in Matthew 24 is "kosmos" and "aeon" which means "age" period or epoch of time therefore the words "end of the world" should be better translated as "end of the age"

With due respect, Pastor Mark:

Harold Camping is now warning the world that the Day of Judgment will begin at about 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2011. The 89-year-old founder of Family Radio has made such ridiculous pronouncements before, most recently in 1994. He now says that he simply miscalculated then, but he is absolutely certain that he has the right calculation now. You have been warned.
Actually, millions of people in America have been “warned” through Camping’s radio program and by means of the more than 1,200 billboards his ministry has put up across the nation. According to press reports, Family Radio has put up 2,000 billboards in other nations, as well.
Camping is no stranger to controversy, but this one has caught national and international attention. He was wrong before and he’s going to be wrong again, but this time he thinks he’s absolutely certain that he is right. As he told New York magazine:

“God has given so much information in the Bible about this, and so many proofs, and so many signs, that we know it is absolutely going to happen without any question at all. There’s nothing in the Bible that God has ever prophesied — there’s many things that he prophesied would happen and they always have happened — but there’s nothing in the Bible that holds a candle to the amount of information to this tremendous “truth” (as he claims) of the end of the world. I would be absolutely in rebellion against God if I thought anything other than it is absolutely going to happen without any question.”
If you know the Bible and this statement confuses you, you are in good company. Harold Camping presumptuously and arrogantly believes that God has revealed to him the exact dates of biblical events and the timeline of the judgment, that’s a LIE from the pit of hell and Satan himself. He says that God revealed some so-called “exquisite proof” that enabled him to determine a so-called “finished product” timeline that ends on May 21, this coming Saturday.
As Michael S. Rosenwald of The Washington Post explains, Camping “says he came up with the very precise date of May 21 through a mathematical calculation that would probably crash Google’s computers.” Further, Camping’s mathematical formula “involves, among other things, the dates of floods, the signals of numbers in the Bible, multiplication, addition and subtraction thereof.” As many have noted, the math seems to make sense only to Harold Camping, a real smart-aleck, busy body, know-it-all that should study the Bible himself, get his eschatology straight and clear and stop speculating dates which not only deceives and misleads people but it’s also sin.
.
Yet, in a strange way, this just serves to affirm Camping in his teaching. On his website he states:
However, it was not until a very few years ago that the accurate knowledge of the entire timeline of history was revealed to true believers by God from the Bible. This timeline extends all the way to the end of time. During these past several years God has been revealing a great many truths, which have been completely hidden in the Bible until this time when we are so near the end of the world.
These so-called “true believers” turn out to be Harold Camping’s disciples. Others, even professing Christians, will be in big trouble when Saturday comes, he believes.
The Christian church has seen this kind of false teaching before. William Miller and his Adventist followers (known, surely enough, as Millerites) believed that Christ would return on March 21, 1844. In the 1970s, popular Christian preachers and writers predicted that Christ would return on various dates now long in the past and they’re still doing it. All this is embarrassing enough, but now we have the heretic teachings of Harold Camping to deal with. Given the public controversy, many people are wondering how Christians should think about his claims.
First, Christ specifically admonished his disciples not to claim such knowledge. In Acts 1:7, Jesus said, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority.” In Matthew 24:36, Christ taught similarly: “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.”
To state the case plainly, first of all, these two verses explicitly forbid Christians to claim the knowledge of such dates and times which is sin. Jesus clearly taught that the Father has not revealed such dates and timing, but has reserved that knowledge for himself. It is an act of incredible presumptuousness to claim that a human knows such a date, or has determined God’s timing by any means.
Second, the Bible does not contain neither dates nor hidden codes that we are to find and decipher. The Bible has been given to us in order that we might know the truth, and the truth is clearly revealed in its pages and it practically interprets itself. We are not to look for hidden patterns of words, numbers, dates, or anything else (e.g. the Mayan Indian “end of the world” predictions for the year 2012 for example). The Bible’s message is plain and requires no mathematical computation for its understanding. The claim that one has found a hidden code or system in the Bible is an insult to the Bible as the Word of God and a form of blasphemy and abomination to the Lord.
Third, Christians are indeed to be looking for Christ to return and seeking to be found faithful when Christ comes. We are not to draw a line in history and set a date, but we are to be about the Father’s business, sharing the Gospel and living faithful Christian lives. We are not to sit on rooftops like the Millerites, waiting for Christ’s return or burying our heads in the sand like ostriches waiting for the “end of the world” to come. Instead we are to be busy doing what Christ has commanded and commissioned us to do for this end time.
In Hebrews 9:28, we are taught that Christ will come a second time “to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.” That is the faithful Christian response to these false prophesies and the New Testament teachings about Christ’s coming. The church or anybody else is not to be arrogantly and ignorantly setting dates, but instead to be eagerly waiting for him, of that we can be truly certain.

God bless you, brother

Mark,
My husband and I were blessed to have been able to attend David Hockings Prophecy Conference in Abbotsford, BC this weekend (July 15 & 16 2012) where we enjoyed listening to the speakers. Paticularly your topics "The Judgement Seat of Christ", "What Will Happen in 2012" and your final message on Egypt. I appreciated your "How To Get Ready" for my encounter at the Bema Seat and the list of "God's 15 Test Questons" and will be in prayer with many of them or perhaps all of them .
Your points on 2012 intrigued me. I have paid little or no attention to the theory as I know where I am going and I know God is always in control and I am so thankful for that.. After listening to you I will certainly look for opportunities to share the truth about the true God and the truth about the "end of the world".
Thank you and blessings to you and your family.

Larry,

Thanks for the comments about the 2012 book. I do hold the pre-trib rapture view, which is a common view among prophecy teachers. I understand that many disagree with the view, but it's not something we need to divide over or get angry about. The pre-trib rapture position is my sincerely held belief based upon Scripture.

Blessings,

Mark

Pastor Mark ... I have been raised in the Rapture Theory, pouring over Walvoord's works, Ryrie, Scofield for example, plus multitudes of other men and women ... First, Rapture IS NOT a Bible term nor it can be picked out of any Biblical passage ... The Thess. 'catching away' has been used to justify a Rapture - can it? ... To rightly understand prophecy, one MUST really under-stand Israel and the Church link ... Abraham, our father of faith [Galatians], believed and we also [the Church] do this ... God spoke of a 'seed' for Abraham and that seed IS NOT only the physical seed, BUT also the spirtual seed, the Church of Christ ... THIS must be understood or all else goes sour and we end up with Dispensationalism prophecy ... Our [the Church] teacher Paul knew this all to well and had to "unlearn" the physical/ pharasaical mindset of his people ... Paul taught elloquently on prophecy in the Epistles and Rom. 9,10,11, the chapters which have prob. split more local churches than any other chapters in the entire Bible ... In these 3 chapters Israel has been forsaken by God and Tthe Gentiles put in their place ... Eph. 2 talks of the 'miidle wall of partition' [OT laws and sacrifices] being torn down, and that BOTH Jews and Gentiles are NOW ONE in Jesus Christ ... There is no longer a Jewish Nation that will be somehow be restored in the future Mill. [how could this happen - God has broken down ALL OT laws and sacrifices - remember accord. to Paul - "we are one in Christ"] ... Do we think for a minute that God will reinstate these old and of-no-use-anymore sacrifices? - Appar. some do ... These people are Dispensationalists/Pre-Millists ... By using the Scofiled Bible [I just hate to call it Bible b/c of his biased Disp. views (Scofield bible instead!)], I have many years ago proven the Pre-Mill and Disp. THEORY as wrong - dead worng ... Oh, yes, many will say Ronn, have you gone to seminary - are you a pastor - I say, so what!! - a lay person can learn the Bible just as much and know prophecy just like prophecy-experts [so called] ... See, most of Christendom of which I am familiar are 'blindly-led' Dispensational and Pre-Mil without studying for themselves and instead allowing their ears to be tickled by so-called prophecy-experts ... The Bible is clear [clear enough for even the nominal Christian] to see that Abraham's faith is my [our] faith, and that Christ had broken down Jewish OT laws and sacrifices - never to be resurrected again!!! - Paul believed this, taught it - is no Rapturist and premillenialist - I choose to believe an Apostle instead of Camping and other Rapture Theory minded preachers!!!

[how could this happen - God has broken down ALL OT laws and sacrifices - remember accord. to Paul - "we are one in Christ"] … Do we think for a minute that God will reinstate these old and of-no-use-anymore sacrifices? – Appar. some do … These people are Dispensationalists/Pre-Millists … By using the Scofiled Bible [I just hate to call it Bible b/c of his biased Disp. views (Scofield bible instead!)], I have many years ago proven the Pre-Mill and Disp. THEORY as wrong – dead worng … Oh, yes, many will say Ronn, have you gone to seminary – are you a pastor – I say, so what!! – a lay person can learn the Bible just as much and know prophecy just like prophecy-experts [so called] … See, most of Christendom of which I am familiar are ‘blindly-led’ Dispensational and Pre-Mil without studying for themselves and instead allowing their ears to be tickled by so-called prophecy-experts … The Bible is clear [clear enough for even the nominal Christian] to see that Abraham’s faith is my [our] faith, and that Christ had broken down Jewish OT laws and sacrifices – never to be resurrected again!!! – Paul believed this, taught it – is no Rapturist and premillenialist – I choose to believe an Apostle instead of Camping and other Rapture Theory minded preachers!!!
