The Late Great United States

the late great united statesThe question I get asked more than any other about end time prophecy is “where is America in Bible prophecy”? or “when is God going to judge America?” In January 2009, Multnomah publishers relaesed my book The Late Great United States that addresses all the key issues and questions related to America’s role, if any, in the end times. A new updated, paperback version of The Late Great United States is now available.

With all that’s going on in our nation today, and throughout the world, I think you’ll find this book very helpful in answering the key questions about America in Bible prophecy.

Heard you on KBRT from 11-12 on Sabbath, 6/12 and it should be well known that the United States of America is most definitely in Bible prophecy. Rev 13:11-13 makes it abundantly clear that a beast (a temporal/political power) having two horns (the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution) rises out of an unpopulated area (unlike the first beast that rises out of the sea which according to Rev 17:15 waters always represent people, nation, tongues, etc.) and acts like a lamb (A ‘Christian’ nation) but actually speaks (nations speak through their laws and legislative powers) like the devil himself.

This second beast power of Rev. 13:11will make an “image” to the first beast of Rev. 13:1that Satan himself gave power to. This second beast power is the U.S. of A.

America is passing away that is quite obvious. Why are we not mentioned in the end times, are we part of the One-World government, too economically depressed to represent any leadership or strength, possibly hit by nuclear weapons, or does the Rapture of the Church of Christ take millions of God fearing Christians with values and principles, who work, pay their bills, and take care of others. This could be why the US is not mentioned in end-times prophecy.

Mark Hitchcock is a modern American man who is truly anointed of the Holy Spirit. Not since reading the works of Clarence Larkin have I encountered an Eschatarian theological author with as much depth and brilliance. The mark of the Living God is upon this man. Few living or historical scriptural scholars have achieved what Mark Hitchcock has achieved in his writings. This man has the precious and rare ability to completely remove himself from all theologically dogmatic or culturally myopic trappings of thought. Here is a man who can offer an intelligent and relevant contemporary appraisal of Biblical scripture that is completely free of any notions political dominionism or fanatic nationalism. Mark Hitchcock understands that the testimony of the Son of God and the teachings of the Apostles are a testimony unto the entire planet. Purchase or download this book, pray that Christ intercedes that the Comforter leads you into Truth, and begin the wonderful journey of edifying your mind concerning the harsh admonitions and awesome intervention of the coming Son of Man. Mark Hitchcock is a Good Sheppard, and will not lead you astray.

Dear Mark,I feel that the U.S. is in bible prophecy. When we look at the age of an animal,we go by how big it’s horns are or like a horse we look at how long it’s teeth are.In Daniel it talks about the ten horns and another little horn comes up among them.I feel this little horn is a younger nation that is formed out of the original 10.Then this would be the U.S. and this little horn(younger nation)would be where the anti-christ would rise out of.Who could make war with him?We are already in 152 nations with our military.Go to youtube and type in:Did Jesus reveal to us the anti-christ and watch that video. This look at the ten horns cannot be ruled out for the U.S. being in bible prophecy. Also in the book of Revelation where it talks about the city that was burning and there was dust cast on their heads.I think this could be N.Y. ON 911 as part of mystery babylon. The planes that hit the towers was about an hour apart. Why do so many prophecy teachers rule this out?Thank you,Paul Brush-Columbus Ohio

Sorry people (except for Debbie, who seems to have some understanding)… but the United States has basically nothing to do with biblical prophecy. The End Times events are all centered around Israel and its neighbors.

But there is one very minor mention of something that I believe pertains to the United States. The first of the four beasts of Daniel (chapter 7) describes a lion with the wings of an eagle. Very likely, that beast (or world power at the time of Tribulation) is the United Kingdom-represented by the lion, and the United States-represented by the wings of the eagle. Obviously the US and UK have had a long-standing ‘special relationship’ so this pairing is a natural choice.

However, there is bad news… the wings are plucked off the lion in Daniel 7:4. This represents the United States being removed from the alliance. I believe this happens during the opening of the 6th Seal in Revelation.

Now to all of you naysayers that parrot the story that the 4 Beasts of Daniel 7 are the world empires leading up to current time, and only the 4th Beast will be around during the Tribulation, please read Daniel 7:12.

“As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.”

That is stated after the 4th Beast is slain. The other three are still around after the battle of Armageddon. So they clearly do not represent Babylon, Media-Persia, Greece or Rome. Well, Rome could still be involved, but that’s a different story. And no, Rome is not the 4th Beast. That’s Islam.

I think all what is said about America or Obama or the present situations that going on in the world are untrue if they are to be related to any bible prophecy especially the book of revelation yet we can sense that the lord’s coming (the rapture) is very close, however we can’t say that America is the subject of prophecy or the leading country of the one world order as these events will take place after the rapture (rev: 4:1). The removing of governments and arising new ones, this will cause a general confusion throughout the whole earth during this time the dictator leader( the beast) will arise from Europe (represented in the ten horns) and control the whole world by force through satanic means and cause all the dwellers of the earth to accept the mark this will take place in the second 3 1/2 years of tribulation (the last seventieth week of daniel), i don’t want to enlong as these prophecies can’t be explained in 2 or 3 lines. but i believe that America is been set by God for the protection of israel from their surounded enemies at this present dispensation( the gospel of the grace of God that is preached now for more than 2000 years) until the day of the rapture then god will re-apeal his dealings with israel as his people by gathering all the nations (especially the islamic nations) against Israel for their rejection of the first coming of the lord Jesus (zech:14:1)and (Micah:4:11-12) after the lord strikes israel for their rejection of jesus they will cry out to him and will say as the lord said to them in mathew(23:39) when they rejected him, blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord, at this time the lord jesus will apear from heaven with the hosts of his saints (the raptured believers) (Judah verse 14) to deliver the remnant of the jewish believers and restore them to himself and destroy all the gathered nations againts israel. May god bless all and give us a spiritual insight to understand his blessed word

No way found to email so I will post here:
    Answering pre-tribulation.
    Mid Tribulation shown in Scripture,
Rev 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
Rev 12:8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Rev 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
Rev 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Rev 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
Rev 12:13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.
Rev 12:14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
Rev 12:15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.
Rev 12:16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.
Rev 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

    1. Satan is released. Tribulation an Wrath are Not the same. The Wrath of God is Awesome, The tribulation of the Devil is a picnic compared to the wrath of God.
    2. “a time, and times, and half a time”, is the middle of Tribulation. “She is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.” This shows God’s grace and protecting power in Tribulation no matter when it is actually.
    3. The wrath of God is poured out when his Church is removed. We are not appointed to wrath, but the protection we receive in it and the trouble it will be will prepare the People of God. No escapist hope is offered, but as all things work together for good, the Tribulation will too. It will purify and Unite the body to be more “one as we are one.”
These passages show a Mid Tribulation Rapture. The purpose is to purify, show God’s protecting power and unite an more mature faith filled body. I am Glad we won’t be spared the “trial of our faith”, the Church won’t be giving pabulum sermons on prosperity or man centered gospel themes during the Tribulation.
We need the tribulation more than we know now. To be prepared to be in God’s presence, it will good if He really is first in our hearts. In the world and in the Church it is not so now.
It is also Mercy and Grace we are prepared to meet Him.

  8. Paul

    Hi Mark.

I’ve just been watching a brief interview with you in which you say that pretty much all the references to Babylon in the Bible refer to literal Babylon, with the exception of that in 1 Peter 5:13.

Could the reference in Peter not also be to literal Babylon? “Babylon” there is unlikely to be Rome, since (despite what the Pope might say), Peter probably never went to Rome.

And who is the “elect lady”? My understanding is that the word “elect” in the New Testament is simply a word meaning “chosen” — so when someone is said to be elect, it means simply that they were chosen by God for some purpose (despite what Calvinists might say). All the way throughout the Old Testament, God had a chosen people (whom, incidentally, He consistently referred to as a woman). …And after God judged His chosen people early in the 6th century BC, where were the vast majority of them exiled?

Paul was known as the Apostle to the Gentiles — he ended up in Rome. Peter was known as the Apostle to the Jews. What better place for Peter to end up than literal Babylon.

    Just a few thoughts, anyway!

    God bless, brother,

    Paul.

Mark Hitchcock is one of my “favorite Bible teacher.” I really hope he returns to Hawaii and speak at our Calvary Chapel Pearl Harbor this year.

I was looking for Mark Hitchcock website but couldn’t find it, until today receiving news about his new book.

I really, really enjoy his debate on DVD with Hank Hanegraff at the Dallas Theological Seminary. Personally I believe Mark won this debate “hands down.”
Please keep me on his mailing list of any of his newsletters (if there is any) and new books. I believe I got most if not all of Mark Hitchcock fine books.

One more comment here: I am not only a supporter of “His Channel” but it’s filled with biblical messages from very good biblical teachers.
Maybe one day soon, Mark Hitchcock will be seen on His Channel.”
